Faslane navel base, only thirty miles from Glasgow in Scotland, is the base for Britain's Trident missile submarines that carry nuclear weapons with the destructive power equal to 1,000 Hiroshimas.

The blocades at Faslane

Since 1999 there have been a series of mass non-violent but disruptive direct actions at Faslane and Coulport (five miles from Faslane) nuclear weapons bases on the Clyde - the Big Blockades!

These events see a diversity of people from all over the world, including lots of young people, churchmen and politicians turning out - many being arrested for trying to uphold international law, and stop Trident.

The Big Blocade 2003

Camcorder Guerilla recorded the events as the day unfolded. This was the Guerilla’s first film. It was made in 48 hours, put onto the web shortly after the blocade had taken place and has since been screened at festivals and venues throughout the world.
