Much is written and said about asylum seekers and refugees in the media. However, precious little is heard from asylum seekers and refugees themselves. Voice Seekers (15 minutes, Scotland 2004) is a film by Camcorder Guerillas for the Scottish Refugee Council.
Refugee stories in their own words
‘You have to meet asylum seekers and see them. They run from hassle in their own country. They run because they have a lot of problems. If they come here and they find the same problems, it means that their life don’t change. They have to come here and see that OK, [here is] a place I can sleep and feel safe, at least feel safe’.
Leocadie from the Democratic Republic of Congo
Voice Seekers lets you meet Leocadie and three other refugees from Kosovo, Afghanistan and Uganda and hear them tell their stories in their own words - their lives before they had to flee, their experiences of seeking asylum in Scotland and their hopes and dreams for the future.
